I first discovered my love for Pilates during lockdown, living in a flat, I had lost my job and during this time I was able to massively reflect on myself and who I thought I was becoming .. I realised I lost myself completely throughout my early 20’s and was caught up in a lifestyle that wasn’t for me at all. You have to lose everything in order to gain right?

Not only pilates but meditation, breath work & yoga brought so much clarity and guidance to my journey throughout 2020 and I have kept consistent with these practices up until today. They have helped me to transform my mental health, my body and keep me aligned with my purpose.

I completed my qualifications that enabled me to teach and decided it was the right time for me to have a reset. I decided to move abroad, this move helped me grow and change and I have only the beautiful people & experiences I crossed paths with on this journey to be thankful for.

I set off to south east Asia with my best friend and started to put my Pilates into practice, teaching in Thailand and Indonesia, meeting with many different people from around the world was the start of something for me, I found my passion and this gave me the confidence I needed to pursue it.

Since coming home, I felt a massive shift in my reality and the way I saw the world changed completely. I am so grateful for the experiences that have led me to who I am & where I am today and I wouldn’t change a thing. Never allow anyone to tell you that you cannot achieve your dreams or that anything is impossible, believe in yourself and surround yourself with those who also believe in you too.

For me, teaching is more than a workout and it brings me so much joy helping others to achieve their fitness goals, seeing others grow in confidence & strength.

My involvement with Pilates goes back to my training as both a dancer and dance teacher, doing class with teachers such as Alan Herdman, one of the pioneers of the technique in this country. I have developed a great respect for how Pilates could aid the development of the performers physique and help them recover from illness and injury.

I began my journey with Reformer Pilates a decade ago, and from my very first session, I knew it was something I would continue for the foreseeable future. My passion for Reformer Pilates has only grown since then, and it remains an integral part of my life.

A few years ago, I faced significant health challenges, and Reformer Pilates played a crucial role in my full recovery, both physically and mentally. This experience deepened my appreciation for the practice and its transformative power.

With a background in working with the public, I have always enjoyed meeting diverse individuals and helping them achieve their goals. This experience has enriched my approach to Pilates, allowing me to connect with and support a wide range of clients. I believe it is essential to feel relaxed and have fun in my classes, and I strive to create an enjoyable and welcoming environment for everyone.

I am dedicated to helping people understand the importance of movement and guiding them to discover the life-changing benefits of Reformer Pilates.

Yuko

My name is Yuko Warwick-Yamamoto, I have been regularly active in aerobics for more than forty years and now I am a qualified ETM, Pilates Level 3, Fitness Yoga Yin Yoga and Personal Trainer.

I started my own business known as Genki fitness classes at my studio in Leigh-on-Sea in November 2006 (genki means “healthy” in Japanese) which I enjoyed teaching DanceFit and Zumba. After been teaching DanceFit / Zumba for 11 years, I did hang my dance shoes off and now am focusing and specialising to teach Pilates and Yoga.

As I have a Japanese background, a nation with the longest life expectancy in the world, I would like to introduce my healthy Japanese way of living including a healthy diet and an active lifestyle so that I can be a good role model for others.

Quite often people ask me how Japanese people stay so slim and healthy, no matter what their age and even getting old, and they want to know how they can fit a healthy diet and good exercise into their busy daily lives.

As most people are worried about obesity in the UK and in many cases have tried weight-loss programmes so many times and then failed, I decided that I could use my own background to create a beneficial and possibly unique opportunity to develop a successful career within the fitness industry. As a trainer, I have developed a keen interest in how exercise and an active lifestyle can help people and I have always wanted to help improve their individual fitness and personal health. I would like to encourage people to believe that it is never too late to get fit and stay fit and to adopt a “feeling better than ever“ attitude to their fitness regimes.

My passion is how to help people stay healthy both physically and mentally and to make them stay on track for a healthy lifestyle and a longer life expectancy.

I’m very passionate about keeping fit, highly motivated and most importantly I do my best to making participation in exercise classes / a small group sessions /PT an enjoyable and fun experience.

My policy when it comes to exercise is that if those I teach really enjoy the workout, they will do it again and again until it becomes a regular habit. I don’t believe in the old “no pain no gain” mantra from years gone by because in such a busy modern age such as the one we live in today, all exercise should be fun and should be something that we want to do rather than feel obliged to do.

On the other hand, as a fitness professional, I am able to make people feel at ease at all times by talking with them in a friendly, courteous and polite manner.

I am still learning and enjoying it every day. Lately, I just achieved to gain a pre post natal Pilates and Pilates matwork level 3 (Mat based and reformer), Yoga and Yin Yoga.

Now, I am very looking forward to seeing you all at the reformer class.

Paula

I am a Nutrition & Weight Management Coach and Pilates instructor.

My own personal experience of struggling with my weight and poor relationship with food brought me to the world of Nutrition. I felt like I was constantly on a diet, but the weight was always going up. I was in a constant cycle of restricting myself and bingeing.

It wasn’t until I stopped ‘dieting’, and started to learn about Nutrition and how to fuel my body properly that I actually started to see results and improve my relationship with food! Now, I am in a place where I feel the most confident, in control and energetic I have in my whole life (without cutting foods out!) - and this is what I help other women with now too.

There is a lot of information out there, and my job is to simplify this for you and create a plan that is tailored to YOUR lifestyle, so that you can lose the weight for good and still enjoy life!

Olivia

With many years of personal practice and certifications in Level 3 Mat and Reformer Pilates, my journey into teaching was born from a deep love for how Pilates made me feel - physically stronger, mentally clearer, and more connected within myself. I was always drawn to the idea of teaching, but lacked the confidence to take the leap. After having my two children, I decided to take that leap - and I haven’t looked back since.

I love how Pilates has helped me feel more aligned, balanced, and stronger, and my goal is to help others experience the same. In my classes I aim to create a welcoming, inclusive space where everyone feels comfortable. My hope is that people leave each session feeling not only like they’ve moved their body, but that they’ve done something good for themselves — and maybe even leave with a smile.

Kirby

I am a professional dancer with extensive experience in the industry, performing as both a dancer and singer on cruise ships, in international tours, London productions, and numerous shows across the UK.

In addition to my dance background, I have practiced Pilates for several years, which naturally led me to discover Barre. The balletic elements of Barre closely align with my dance training, deepening my passion for both disciplines.

I love the seamless connection between Pilates, Barre, and dance, as the combination of movement and music transforms the workout experience into something truly enjoyable.

As an instructor, my primary goal is to inspire others to embrace movement, cultivate a positive atmosphere, and take pride in the simple yet powerful act of showing up.

Claire

I qualified as a Charted Physiotherapist from the University of Essex in 2020, meaning I was thrusted into my healthcare career in the height of a pandemic, so that was a learning curve to say the least! I have experience of both NHS and private practice Physiotherapy, including various specialities such as MSK, Orthopaedics, Surgical, Neurology, Respiratory to name a few. I recently had a baby and returned to work where I am now specialising in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy. This means I get to help ladies who are experiencing various pelvic floor dysfunctions including prolapse, pelvic pain, incontinence, antenatal & postnatal care.

Pilates found me early on in my career, whereby I studied with APPI to achieve my qualification. I continue to study with them to further develop my knowledge with continued professional development. Being a Physiotherapist trained in Pilates has its advantages. I can utilise my Pilates knowledge both in clinic with my patients & in the studio because Pilates is for everybody! With my speciality being Pelvic Health Physiotherapy, I feel two worlds have collided as Pilates compliments this so perfectly. I absolutely love getting in the studio and teaching after a busy day in clinic. I get to help people in a different way. That is why I love my job.
